I have a driver's license in Ohio, but I'm in the military and get this change in the state where I am is a pain in the ass. What is the procedure in Ohio is back?

I was in the Air Force and had) a driver's license in Alabama (my home state and I wanted to renew my license in Alabama. I Cried here, and they sent me the documents to Washington (target) and then I went back to Alabama have completed the paperwork and the license by mail within a few weeks. The new license only say "valid without photograph or signature." At least that's how I've done.
